Effing???

Maybe we should call it semi-cussing...using words and sounds that suggest we are using  cuss words.  Or should we call this phenomenon "politically correct cussing"? The use of the word "effing" kinda crawls up my a- hole. What is going on? Saying "eff" is saying"fuck" without really saying "fuck" but everybody knows you really mean "fuck". Why the fuck not just say "fuck"? We used to replace "fuck" with "frickin" or "friggin"... same argument from me. We still use "the f-word" in place of "fuck". Why not just use the word you want to use...FUCK.  This substitute cuss word game has been going on for a long time. Ever heard someone called a "son of a biscuit eater"? Doesn't really have much impact, does it?  Some of the  soft cuss words probably have a place and time for use...darn, dang, drat in stead of damn, but basically, I'm for full tilt, full impact cussin'. I mean if you're not gonna do it right, why the fuck bother?

I know language use changes over the years. Yester-year's  strong cuss words don't mean much now. Today's strong cuss words will lose impact as they are adopted into everyday, common use. Not long ago, using the word "piss" was a big taboo. "Piss" is  used quite openly now. "What pissed you off" ..."piss off you little creep"... "I've got to take a piss".... everyday conversation. Not so long ago, some folks substituted the word "curse" for the word "cuss". "Crap" was often used in the place of "shit"... it still is, but is considered the softer of the two words.

Cussing serves a particular use as we express ourselves. Cuss words help emphasize a point or broaden our meaning or expression of discontent. Cussing adds color to our language. Let's do it right. No more cuss word hinting...let's just let 'er rip with the real thing. Next time somebody uses "effing" in a conversation, ask them if they really meant to say "fucking". Next time someone uses a cuss word and then asks that you "pardon their French"... knock the goddamned monkey shit out of them.

Fucking-A, Slim. This is a good post.

Certain words can and should be used for emphasis. The problem commences when such vocabulary is preponderantly used to empress the main communication, then the points of emphasis become lost.

The real problem is that average Amuracun persists is using the same ‘ol 5,000 words when our glorious English language features multiples of that.
