Here We Go Again...Republicans and Closets

Well, here we go again....and I'll be brief and to the point. Another outspoken opponent of gays and gay rights Republican lawmaker has bee exposed as ....yep... we have another Republican cocksucker here. State Rep. Richard Curtis, R-La Center has admitted, according to "The Columbian" newspaper, that he had sex with a man he met at an adult video store. Curtis, a married, 48 year old former Vancouver fire captain initially denied the allegations made by Cody Castagna that the two of them had consensual sex. I'm omitting the details because all those juicy little  details lie outside of my purpose for this post...but the police have a such a huge volume of evidence, including video of Curtis and Castagna together, that Curtis obviously figured he had no choice but to fess up. He has stated however, that he must have been given some type of drug....he's having a hard time remembering the events of that wild and crazy evening. OK, one juicy little detail...Curtis was allegedly wearing woman's clothing, red stockings and a cute black sequined lingerie top.

Curtis has now submitted his letter of resignation to Gov. Gregoire. You can read the letter here:   www.houserepublicans.wa.gov/curtis/ .

What the f is up with all these (Republican) politicians who profess to be opposed to and have voted against  gay rights issues and are gay themselves? Some of the more openly Christian politicians are very aggressively anti gay. I personally don't give a skinny rat's ass what consenting adults do, but what really pisses me off is the hypocritical condemnation by these politicians,  of lifestyles of which they are a part. These holier than thou, two faced, arrogant, bible thumping commandos of god point at others and proclaim how desperately nefarious they and their "chosen" lifestyles are and yet...and yet...they are doing the same god damned stuff. And I literally mean "god damned" stuff.

I don't understand how two people of the same sex can be attracted to one another in a sexual manner, but it happens and it is none of my business. I don't care what folks do with other like minded folks. Why in the world would I? It also doesn't matter to me if gays want to live an openly gay lifestyle or if they would prefer to keep their private matters completely private. But to attack gays by day and join them by night...that is totally beyond my ability to comprehend. Does this duality make  homosexual encounters more gratifying? Is the more sinful, the more nefarious the act, the more exciting and indulgent the experience? Or...is the condemnation of gays simply what is expected of, or perceived to be expected of  straight, Christian, (Republican) politicians? Is "straight" the only way to get elected? Of course it is...almost. We have a few openly gay elected officials...but not in conservative parts of our country.

Looks to me like there are three choices for gays who want to run for public office.  Don't run... run but don't reveal sexual orientation.... or run as an openly gay candidate. The second choice does not  include gay bashing as  a cover for a covertly  gay lifestyle. In my estimation, voting against rights, equal rights for gays, is the same as gay bashing. We have no business describing how others should live as long as basic, logical  observances are heeded with regards to the harm and injury of others. The suppression of the rights and freedoms of others is a violation of our Constitution. Why then do we allow (some of) our elected officials this violation?
