Addy Wiggins...Wonder Dog

First off, Addy Wiggins is a dog and she is an extraordinary dog.  I want to tell you the story of how Addy  and I got to know each other. My wife, Woody and I have grown to love Addy  and  so have our dogs. Addy  first showed up at our house about 3  years ago. I was out working in the yard and up walked a little mixed breed dog. She came over to me, I stopped what I was doing and we visited for a few minutes. I didn't know if she was lost or homeless...she had a collar, but no tag...but she appeared to be healthy and was relatively clean. For the next few weeks this little no name dog would stop by and visit. I named her Daisy...I didn't know her name and Daisy seemed to fit. Still unsure about her status, I offered her food and water....sometimes she would eat, but she never seemed ravenous. Maybe she has a network of friends who feed her I thought, or  maybe she lives around here and her people let her wander.

I told Woody about my new found friend and she  was pleased...she loves dogs as I do and she was happy that I had found a new buddy. I began to really look forward to  Daisy's visits. I worried if I didn't see her for a few days and my  interest in finding out more about her grew and grew.  By now, my neighbor Hank and his daughter  Kristina had befriended Daisy too.  Daisy seemed to understand how we felt about her and seemed pleased to have us to visit. A few months went by and one day Daisy showed up with a new collar and a rabies tag! At last! Those rabies tags have numbers and the name of the vet who gave the rabies inoculation. I excitedly examined her new tag and to my surprise and delight, the vet was the same vet we used for our dogs. I called the vet's office and briefly related the story of Daisy to the woman on the other end of the phone. "I need her name and I would like to know where she lives" I said. "Well, I can't tell you her owners name, but the dog's name is Addy," she replied. She also gave me Addy's birth date. I chatted with her for a few more minutes and then told her how much I appreciated the information she had given me. I told her I figured I would walk down the street with Addy and maybe Addy would lead me to her house. Now I knew this wouldn't work....I'd tried it before but I thought that maybe, just maybe I could get a clue from the really nice woman on the phone. "Do you live on such and such street?" she replied. "Yes I do." "Well, if Addy turns towards the house at 1234 (she gave me an address), that might be her house." It worked! I had Addy's address and I excitedly thanked the vet's office woman, hung up the phone and grabbed our neighborhood directory. The Wiggins! I know them....not well, but I had met them at an annual  neighborhood meeting. Wow...Addy Wigggins...Daisy was now Addy.

Shortly after my discovery of her true identity, I attempted to introduce our dogs to Addy. We have three...two Weimerammers, Tyler and Sage and a mixed breed, Nikki.  Tyler is the the oldest and the only boy. Our dogs love other dogs and they really wanted to meet Addy when I had them come over to the fence while Addy was visiting. Addy went beserk! She's a little sawed off  dog....probably doesn't weigh more than 25 pounds, but she was ready to kick some ass. This really surprised me. She loves people...she loves me...she should love my dogs. I found out a few weeks later why she was so aggressive. Addy was pregnant.

My story will be continued..... 600734712_1a4f3593dc_m.jpg
