Pardon My French....Some thoughts about the use of "strong" language

I'm about to use some hard core profanity. If you are the type who recoils in horror when exposed to "strong" language...stop reading now and go find yourself something else to read...perhaps a copy of "Readers Digest". If you are the type who feigns disgust when exposed to "strong" language, read on...nobody will know you have read nasty words...unless you tell someone...in which case you are welcome to express distain for my use of foul language, but how will you explain having read the filth in the first place?

I'm a natural born cusser. I've said this before...I came out of the womb cussin' and never stopped. It is my belief that profane language serves a very important purpose but even if it didn't, it is still fun and in my case, helps me to relieve stress. The use of profanity helps one emphasize one's position when one is making a point or helps define one's position of aversion towards another individual or group. Here is an example: "I think that man is very mean."  OR... " That fucking asshole is mean as a god damned junk yard dog." Which statement best demonstrates revulsion towards a loathsome person?

It has been pointed out to me that my use of cuss words is self deprecating. I've also been told that the use of profanity is an indication of a low IQ and/or a limited vocabulary. The last person who told me this had the IQ of a meatloaf sandwich and the oratorical elegance of George W. fucking Bush. I don't really give a shinny rat's ass either way. My limited vocabulary will not be lacking a wide selection of cuss words and I've enough IQ to cuss out big mother fuckers from enough distance that I can make a clean getaway.

Now I know that the excessive use of profanity weakens it's effectiveness... it is possible to over cuss.  If profane words become too embedded in every day speech, we will have to coin some new cuss words. In fact, this has already happened. In many instances, strong words of the past have now become mild language. And this is the way it should be. Once a particular cuss word looses impact, it should be phases out and replaced with a more effective cuss word. "Oh darn!" just doesn't have much fucking punch anymore.

So to those who are cussers...keep up the good work. To those who seldom cuss...I suppose some cussin' is better than none.  To those who never cuss...give it a try! Next time somebody cuts you off in traffic, let loose with a few choice words, like "you shit eatin' dickhead". You just might enjoy yourself.
